All About Me
Hi, I’m Wayne, the founder of Trail to Freedom Financial Coaching. Like many people, I thought I was doing everything right with my money. I worked hard, saved diligently, and avoided debt. I started working at 13, juggling multiple jobs through high school, and later joined the military, which allowed me to save even more. On the surface, I felt financially responsible.

But when I took an honest look at my finances, I realized that knowing about money and actually building financial security are two very different things. My wife, Caitlin, and I had no debt (which was great), but we also had no emergency fund, no real plan for our future, and no strategy for long-term financial growth. We knew we should be investing, but we weren’t actually doing it.

Everything changed when we stopped just talking about financial principles and started taking intentional action. We built an emergency fund, made smarter financial decisions, and, most importantly, strengthened our communication around money—which led to deeper trust and connection in our marriage.

That’s why I became a financial coach. I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you should have it all figured out but still feel stuck. Now, I help both couples and individuals not only understand financial principles but also gain the confidence to put them into action. Whether you're looking to get on the same page with your spouse, take control of your finances, or simply ensure you're on the right track, I’m here to guide you with a clear plan and practical steps.
